Powers Baseball Fights Hard in Downriver Detroit Tourney

   The Charger beat Gibraltar 9-7 in the opener of a “Downriver” baseball tournament held over week. Mateo Evans paced the offense with 3 hits, also reaching on a hit by pitch. Drew Simmons added 3 hits; Santino Evely and Kaden Martel added a pair of safeties apiece. In 4-0 and 4-1 losses to Brownstone Woodhaven and Trenton, respectively, Nate Gebhardt contributed 4 hits and an RBI.

Powers Returns to SVL Action

   Santino Evely drove in Chase Newcomb on a safety squeeze to tie the game in the nightcap home game
6-6 against visiting Saginaw Heritage. Next batter Nathan Gebhardt, chunked a single to drive in the winning run.
   In the opener, Saginaw Heritage jumped to early 5-0 lead and were never headed in an 8-6 win over Powers. Sturgess, Gebhardt, and Martel each delivered a pair of hits.
   Powers travels to Carman-Ainsworth on Thursday.
