Quick recap below. Powers Hosts North Branch and Flint at season opening dual meet. The Chargers had an excellent opening meet with numerous Chargers taking 1st place finishes. Grant Roberts was a double winner sweeping the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Jayce Beauchamp picked up a win in the 300 meter hurdles and was part of the 'All Junior' 400 meter relay team of Beauchamp, Hudson Miller, Will Bade and Makai Allen that out ran "Team Senior". Beauchamp was also 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a breakthrough performance of 11.05. This time ranks 4th all time for the Chargers and is Beauchamp's 1st entry in the 100 meter top 10 list. Beauchamp trails only a duo of state champions in Dwayne Strozier (1974 and 1957) and Austin Hamlin (2021) as well as current teammate Grant Roberts in the 100 meter list. Charger legend and 1999 graduate Akil Goodman was bumped off the top 10 list. Goodman was the heart and soul of the late 90s track teams and won multiple conference and regionals titles. Goodman went on to compete in track for the University of Detroit and Eastern Michigan. Lennox Naswell picked up wins in the 400 and 800 meter runs. Star sprinter Michaela Wolosuk had a day-long battle with North Branch standout Penelope McNutt. These two have been expected to be two of the top sprinters in the area. The battle between the two sprint stars lived up to expectations. In the 100 meter dash NcMutt edged out Wolosuk in a tight battle where they pushed each other to some of the best times in the area this season. Wolosuk's personal record time of 13.13 moves her up to 4th on the Charger's all time list. Charger legend and 2025 grad Elise Tehean was knocked off the top 10 list. Teahan, who was a long sprinter and long jump specialist has a dozen entries across the top ten lists and is happy for her good friend. In round two of the 200 meter run Wolosuk took revenge and broke the tape with a personal record time in the 200 of 26.74. This is the 3rd best performance in school history. The future is bright as the two faster times were both recorded at late season meets with more favorable weather. Mila Villarreal was a triple winner as she picked up wins in the 800 and 1600 meter runs along with running a leg on the winning 3200 meter relay. Victoria Bouchey took first in the 400 run and ran a leg on the 3200 meter relay. Coach Hasso's high jumpers had a great day as Elle Doherty and Tyler Wood each took first place. The Chargers are back in action at Davison high school at the 25 team 'Shake off the Rust Invitational."
