Chargers Battle Through Competitive SVL Boys Tennis Tournament Powers Catholic earns multiple victories at the Saginaw Valley League Championship at the Greater Midland Tennis Center MIDLAND, Mich. — The Powers Catholic boys tennis team competed against a strong Saginaw Valley League field Thursday at the Greater Midland Tennis Center, with the Chargers earning several victories in singles and doubles competition. The Chargers' strongest performance came at No. 3 doubles, where Benjamin Basey and Andrew Keys put together an impressive run. Basey and Keys opened with an 8-2 victory over Mount Pleasant, then defeated Bay City Western, 8-2, to advance through another round. Their tournament run ended against Midland Dow's Vettel Xu and Zander Salisbury, 6-0, 6-1. Charlie Morgan and Blake Bridges also picked up a victory at No. 2 doubles, defeating Bay City Central, 8-1, before falling to Midland Dow, 8-0. In singles, Asher Akinpeloye earned one of Powers' highlights of the tournament.
