DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. — Powers Catholic needed just four offensive snaps on Friday night to break open its first-ever meeting against Dearborn Heights Annapolis. The Chargers scored touchdowns on three of their first four plays from scrimmage, sparking a dominant performance that led Powers Catholic to a 48-6 victory over Annapolis on the Cougars' homecoming night. Head coach Jeremy Ferman’s Chargers (4-2) made quick work of the host Cougars (0-6) from the opening whistle, averaging a towering 26.8 yards per play on offense while holding Annapolis to under 100 total yards. The lightning-quick offensive barrage started on Powers' very first snap. Junior running back Jayce Beauchamp broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run to put the Chargers up 6-0 early in the first quarter. After the Chargers' defense forced a quick stop, Powers went right back to the big play on its second offensive snap, as Hudson Miller broke away for a 49-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 12-0. Powers Catholic scored on 3 of its first 4 offensive plays when quarterback Thomas Begola hit Miller in stride for a 50-yard touchdown pass on the team's fourth snap of the game, pushing the advantage to 19-0 early in the second quarter. The Chargers continued to build momentum throughout the second frame. Makai Allen added a 29-yard touchdown run, and Beauchamp notched his second score of the night on a 40-yard rush, sending Powers into the locker room with a commanding 35-0 halftime cushion. Powers output continued in the third quarter when player No. 15 ripped off a 63-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 41-0. The Chargers' offense was as efficient as it was explosive. Beauchamp led the rushing attack with 116 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, while Miller contributed 91 rushing yards and a touchdown on three carries to go along with his 50-yard touchdown reception. Overall, Powers racked up 327 rushing yards on 13 carries—averaging 25.2 yards per attempt. Defensively, Powers completely stifled Annapolis, allowing just 98 total yards on 46 plays. The Chargers recorded 10 tackles for loss, led by linebackers Aidan Corcoran (12 total tackles, 2 TFL) and Asa Stenberg (10 tackles, 7 TFL). Lorenzo Mindlin added an interception, while Gavin McCartney recovered a fumble. Annapolis avoided the shutout late in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run on fourth down. Powers Catholic will look to carry its momentum into next Friday's non-league home matchup when the Chargers host Alma on homecoming night in Atwood Stadium.
